Foam Rollers
At Hope Physical Therapy and Wellness, we are carrying a long, cylinder piece of equipment, called a foam roller. Your physical therapist may have even used a foam roller with you during one of your sessions. Foam rolling can be very beneficial in helping with a variety of issues.
Foam rolling is a type of self-massage that allows you to alleviate tightness or trigger points in your muscles. It is great for people who sit at a desk all day, has poor posture, or have any type of joint issues. Benefits of foam rolling include increasing blood flow to muscle tissues, joints, and fascia (connective tissue around the muscles), improving mobility and flexibility, alleviating muscle soreness, aiding in muscle repair, promoting relaxation, and helping with overall well-being. Stop by our office today to pick up your foam roller.
TheraBands
Have you ever wanted to do workouts at home but thought you didn’t have the right equipment? There are so many exercises you can do using your own bodyweight, very light resistance, or even TheraBands.
Bodyweight exercises can be very beneficial, as most of the movements we do throughout the day are done without added weight, such as when walking, running, or taking the stairs. Exercises such as burpees, squats, lunges, and push-ups are great examples of exercises that, when done properly, can be a hard workout without adding weight.
Prefer to lift weights? Light resistance can go a long way. We have a lot of small muscles in our bodies that are so important in keeping our bodies healthy and moving well, but they often get overlooked at the gym. Lightweights, such as using a water bottle, a can of soup, or light dumbbells, if used in certain ways can be quite beneficial.
Therabands are another great way to work out at home with added resistance. They take up little space, are easy to travel with, and can provide a significant amount of resistance to your exercises!

RockTape
Have you ever wondered what the colorful tape is that athletes often wear? Why do they wear it and what does it do? Or better yet, can it help you?
At HOPE PT, we offer Rock Tape, one of several brands of this athletic tape. Rock Tape is a stretchy tape that can be used for a variety of aches and pains throughout the body, and best of all, you don’t have to be an athlete to benefit from it! It can be used to help with many different issues including helping to decrease swelling, improve posture, and even help relieve pain. It can be used throughout the body, depending on what issue you have going on. Interested in learning more? Give us a call so we can make an appointment to show you how to use it or you can ask your PT at your next visit. Once you know how to apply it, you can often put it on yourself (or with the help of a friend, depending on the area) as a tool to help manage your pain on your own.

Sole Orthotics
Do you have achy feet or low back pain? Low to flat arches? Did you know that supporting gently under the arches of your feet can help resolve plantar fasciitis, knee and low back pain, and even HEADACHES? Even if you have good arches that don’t touch your shoe for support, these can offer instant support to fill in that space and make your feet happy!
At HOPE PT we offer orthotic therapy to help with these issues using SOLE semi-rigid orthotics that are inexpensive, instantly comfortable, and can be adjusted if needed using a heat molding process. Come see us for a free consult to see if these could work for you, or ask your PT during your next PT session. Custom orthotics can cost up to $500.00, but for under $65.00, you can try SOLES to see if they take care of your aches and pain.
